Welcome to D.O.G.S.S.!OUR MISSION IS FOR OUR PET ADOPTIONS TO EXCEED THE NUMBER OF ABANDONED DOGS IN LOCAL SHELTERSD.O.G.S.S. (Debbie’s Only Goal Saving Strays) is an independent, non-profit, no-kill organization solely supported by donations. Our mission is to make a positive, immediate and lasting difference in the lives of homeless animals (mostly dogs). We are a small, big-hearted, hometown organization in northeast Ohio. With shelters and the Humane Society having limited space, we are these animals only and last chance of becoming a loyal and loving family member in a permanent home. D.O.G.S.S. is solely run by myself, Debbie, and my boyfriend, John, out of our home. We have a 3-bedroom Cape Cod with approx. 1 acre of property. We fenced in the back yard with a 6-foot blockade fence and put an electric fence around the bottom so they couldn't jump it OR dig out. We had One Day Garage build us a double-car garage and put in a furnace, an air conditioner and installed a doggie-door so they could go in and out at will. We added a deck so they can lay out and also to make it easier for the older ones to go in and out of the doggie door. We put additional fencing and pea-gravel around the garage to keep them out of the yard when it rains so they wouldn't be muddy all the time. We would like to put 5' fence in the front yard to help keep them in the yard when they go out front. When we are home, they have the run of the house because there is a doggie door on the porch to the house also. They can stay inside, stay on the porch, lay on the deck or go in the"dog" garage. When we are not home, we have to keep the dogs that don't get along separated so some stay in the basement, some upstairs, some in the computer room, some in the bedroom, some in the living room and some in the kitchen. Any new dogs we bring home have to stay in the "old" garage where we keep our cars parked. We just leave the cars out while they adjust to the other dogs. Although our hearts are always open to taking in more animals, we are running out of physical space to house them. That is why we need your help. Most of these dogs have been "adopted" into "our" family because, for one reason or another, cannot be placed in any other home. They have been too badly abused or are not housebroken and will remain with us until they die. (You can see OUR FAMILY on the GALLARY page of this website). We buy all the food ourselves. We pay for the spay/neutering, shots and any other medical costs of all animals in our care. If any doggie doors need replaced or we need more gravel or gates, we have to purchase them ourselves. So far we have had no help financially and it is just costing us more than we earn. We just work for them and it’s getting harder and harder to afford any more strays that come along - - THAT IS WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP! D.O.G.S.S. helps rescue stray and abused animals.Due to the laws, the Humane Society has to follow a lot of rules and regulations preventing many animals from being removed from bad situations right away. This is where D.O.G.S.S., a non-profit organization, steps in to help these unfortunate animals in their time of need. We provide a loving, caring place for these animals to stay while waiting to be adopted out to new families. If they cannot be removed immediately, we supply daily food, water and, also, shelter (if not already provided). We also provide medicine or medical attention if needed.
